On the patio: open house delayed

Sometimes I think the party gnomes are out to get me. When Anne Tyler Lord offered to include an announcement about my new blog at her Writer's Life coffee klatch, I jumped at the chance even though I'm traveling this week. I didn't plan on the vagaries of hotel internet, so I'm like the hostess caught with a dirty or unfinished house.

So, this week will be an open patio. I'm in San Antonio, Texas, where it's really hard to find a good beer or decent glass of wine, so I'm serving cocktails. There are, of course, margaritas, regular:

Or top shelf:

Blood Orange Mojitos:

Daiquiris:

And, for munchies, chips, salsa and queso:

Or waffles (because I'm still random):

Yes, these are all pictures from my trip. I love it that Anne has all kinds of pictures of birds or coffee. Me? It's all about the food and alcoholic beverages, apparently.

Seriously, by next week, I hope to have more done. I always think I can accomplish more than I do while conferencing. I'm also going to do the second half on that procrastination post. Once I find my notes. The messy desk gnomes are stalking me, too.

  2. Those pics are great! That waffle is too much!

It is early in the morn, but the drinks and chips look yummy.

  3. Is that a PINK waffle? Is it strawberry or something? Yum, that would be fabulous!

I can't believe you're having trouble finding good beer in San Antonio - I've never been that far west, but it somehow doesn't sound right. But at least you found the tequila! ;)

I'll take my margarita top shelf, on the rocks, w/ a splash of oj and a lot of salt please and thank you very much!

  4. I bring a typical Italian beverage: spritz. It's made of prosecco and campari, or aperol (don't ask me, no clue). Put a slice of orange, ice, and you're done. Very good! :)

p.s.: I hate campari. I always go with aperol, whatever it is...

Congrats on your new house! I've just moved too, so I know what you're going through, heh. :)

  5. Thanks for stopping by, y'all!

Anthony, I was at a conference, not quite vacation, but there's still plenty of alcohol involved.

Anne, I'm soooo happy to be home! Thanks for the good wishes. I have now eaten enough chips and salsa to last me a long time. Or maybe til next week. ;)

Deanna, although lots of things in Texas are pink because of the plentiful pink granite (who'd've thunk in such a manly state...?), the waffle is plain. I think the pink comes from the heat lamp lighting.

Mari, that sounds yummy! How are things going with your new Randomities? I've stopped by and am impressed.

Another round, anyone? This is a magic humidity- storm- and idiot-proof patio, so feel free to hang out. :)

  6. I love the Texas waffle! I should make a Californian version and package it with organic waffle mix.
